Herpes Genitalis
Herpes is a well-known sexually transmitted disease that has been making rounds since sometime. Just like AIDS, a virus which goes by the name of herpes simplex causes this ailment. According to some of the recently released estimates, approximately fifty percent of the American population suffers from either one form of herpes!
Doctors have classified the HSV (or the herpes simplex virus) into two - they are the HSV1 and the HSV2. Some time back, many physicians held on to the belief system that HSV2 causes herpes in the sexual organs. Keeping in tune with the tradition, they began to assign HSV1 as the prime factor for the herpes that occurred "above the waist".
We have had immense medical advancements throughout the years. As of today, the physicians have discarded their age-old belief systems. With the passage of time, the HSV1 and HSV2 virus began to appear in an alternating manner. Why do we have to fear this particular ailment?
One of the most important factors related with the virus is its ability to stay camouflaged within the system of the host. In simpler terms, the host will never exhibit any kind of symptoms whatsoever. People who indulge in unsolicited and unwanted sexual escapades are thus affected largely due to this inherent nature of the virus. However, the primary sign of HSV infection is the formation of blister-like lesions on the sexual organs. This is decided based on the mode of sexual conduct exercised by the partners.
A discharge (from the sexual organs) which may or may not have odors is another sign of HSV infection. Occasional itching and pain might also materialize on the affected part. As a rule of thumb, you must seek expert advice if you see any of the above-mentioned manifestations on your body. At times, there is a high chance for the infection to spread to the neighboring organs (which are located within the body). The affected might have intense sessions of pain while urinating. The malignant nature of HSV is seen only on a select few cases.
Here is the most fearful aspect associated with genital herpes. As of today, there are no medications, which can cure the condition in an effective manner. The infection has to subside by itself. Certain studies have already proven that anti-viral medications can be partially effective. Such doings is still inconclusive and the present generation waits for more data.
Using contraptions might provide a shield from such conditions. However, unnatural sexual practices like oral or anal sex can prove to be vexing. Usually the partners will never use any form of protection while enjoying these. It is thus needless to point out that HSV infection is seen commonly on those places only! Once again, I reiterate - practice safe sex. Remain faithful to your sexual partner. Sex is designed as an effective method to procreate. Misusing the activity will simply open up a fresh can of problems only. Stay safe and do keep us updated with the latest findings regarding herpes.
